Ear Cleaning
Ear wax isn’t necessarily bad. In fact, it’s antimicrobial and helps safeguard our ears from harmful infiltrates. But as we age, our body’s ability to regulate ear wax diminishes, and it can build up and become impacted. This causes problems. Using cotton swabs isn’t a great solution.
We use lighted curettes to safely remove ear wax. Sometimes, using a lavage or flush is also necessary. If the wax is too deep or too impacted to be safely removed with these methods, we will refer you to another provider who has the tools to manage more difficult cases.
Insurance & Pricing
Insurance does not cover ear wax removal performed by an audiologist, though it is typically covered when performed by your primary care provider. The out-of-pocket price is $50.
